Educational Program

The explosive growth of the communications industry has created an unprecedented demand for trained engineers proficient in wireless communications. The MPRG faculty, able to draw on their diverse wireless expertise, has developed an innovative communications curriculum incorporating current wireless communications research. Core courses in wireless communications, developed with funding from the National Science Foundation, provide students with the fundamental skill set necessary to design, analyze, and deploy modern wireless communications systems. Coupled with existing courses within the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and extensive research opportunities, the curriculum provides students with the course work and tools necessary to meet the technology needs of today's wireless industry. MPRG graduates enter the workforce with sufficient academic background and research experience to make an impact without additional training.

Degree Programs

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE) offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Both graduate degrees allow for specialization in wireless communications. The M.S. degree requires thirty credit hours, and the Ph.D. degree requires ninety. To keep up with the changing technology, the specific course requirements for these degrees are updated regularly. Visit the ECpE on-line graduate manual for more information.

Financial Assistance

MPRG currently funds all students who are advised by MPRG faculty on Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs), which involve assisting an MPRG faculty member with an external research grant or contract. Varying pay levels accommodate experience and academic excellence.

The ECpE Department also offers Graduate Assistantships (GAs), Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs), and six scholarship awards of varying financial values. Additional information on financial assistance is published in the ECpE Graduate Manual.

Job Placement

Whether students aspire to careers in academia or industry, MPRG's nationally recognized educational program provides the needed skills, research experience, and industry exposure to make our students some of the most highly sought engineers in the field. MPRG's commitment to the development of its students is demonstrated by the group's successful placement of 100% of its graduate students. Strong industry ties, through the MPRG Industrial Affiliates Program and research sponsorship, provide valuable recruitment opportunities for industry and abundant job opportunities for students. Additionally, student internships and sponsored research projects help forge productive working relationships that often develop into full time employment upon graduation.
