Dr. Jeff Reed is director of Wireless@VT, deputy director of MPRG, and the Willis G. Worcester professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, specializing in spread spectrum, position location, digital signal processing, interference rejection, modem design, smart antennas, and software radios.

D. Reed has authored, co-authored, or co-edited 20 books and contributed to 6. He has authored or co-authored over 190 journal and conference papers. Dr. Reed is a past recipient of Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering Award for Excellence in Research.  He has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on over 70 projects while at Virginia Tech.  Dr. Reed continues to work as a consultant and has provided short courses to many companies.  He was awarded IEEE Fellow in December 2004.

Dr. Reed received his BSEE in 1979, MSEE in1980, and Ph.D. in1987, all from the University of California, Davis. From 1980 to 1986, he worked for Signal Science, Inc., a small consulting firm specializing in DSP and communication systems. After graduating with his Ph.D., Dr. Reed worked as a private consultant and as a part-time faculty member at the University of California, Davis. In August, 1992, Dr. Reed joined the faculty of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech.
